Chitrakoot Dham, which translates to “Hill of Wonders,” is located in the Northern Vindhya Ranges of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. It is known for its spiritual and religious significance in Hinduism and its peaceful, serene landscape, which has made it a center for cosmic consciousness and a popular destination for sages, hermits, and devotees. Chitrakoot is mentioned in the Ramayana and is believed to have been visited by Lord Ram, Mother Sita, Lord Hanuman, and other revered sages such as Atri, Goswami Tulsidas, Anasuya, and Dattatray.
Although Prayagraj is sometimes considered the “king of all Teertha,” Chitrakoot is also highly regarded and is believed to be a place where the gods come down to Earth during the Shraddha ceremony performed by Lord Ram. Its natural beauty and numerous ashrams, temples, ancient rocks, and caves create a spiritual atmosphere that inspires visitors to seek enlightenment and improve their lives.

Ram Ghat is a popular destination in Chitrakoot Dham known for its beautiful morning views and the vibrant colors of the calm river waters. It is bustling with activity, particularly in the evening when the Aarthi ceremony takes place.
According to legend, Lord Ram and Laxman lived in the caves at Gupt Godavari, and the two large stone thrones there are believed to have belonged to them. This site is located 18 km from Chitrakoot Dham.
Brihaspati Kund is located in the village of Pahari Khera in the Panna District of Madhya Pradesh, which is part of Bundelkhand and is 18 km south of Kalinjar. According to legend, Devguru Brihaspati, a religious and divine scholar, founded an ashram at this site and performed yagnas (rituals) there.

Ganesh Bagh is a temple built in the 19th century by King Vinayak Raj Peshwa, located on the Karvi-Devangana Road. It is known for its intricate and beautiful interior carvings, which are reminiscent of the style and time period of the famous Khajuraho temples. The temple’s architecture is also similar to that of the original Khajuraho temples.

It is a popular tourist destination, with attractions located in both Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh as the district is located on the border of both states. There is also a place called Chitrakoot Falls located near Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh.
The total distance between Delhi and Chitrakoot is 674 km and it takes approximately 10 hours to travel there by road. There are two ways to reach Chitrakoot from Delhi: via the Yamuna Expressway and the newly built Bundelkhand Expressway, or via Agra, Etawah, Hamirpur, and Banda on the Taj Expressway and NH35 and NH34.
Alternatively, you can take the U P Samparkranti Express (12448) train from Delhi’s H Nizamuddin station, which departs at 20:10 and arrives in Chitrakoot at 7:25 AM.
Chitrakoot Dham is famous for many reasons. It was the taposthal (place of penance) of Sage Atri and his wife Anusuya and has been a place of meditation for many sages and sadhus since that time. Lord Ram and his wife Sita, along with their brother Lakshman, spent 11 years of their 14-year exile in Chitrakoot. The town is also known for the Sadguru Netra Chikitsalya, a free eye hospital run by the Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust, which was founded in 1968 by Param Pujya Ranchhoddasji Maharaj for the purpose of providing selfless service to humanity.
The distance from Chitrakoot to Satna is 76 km. Private transport buses run daily from the MP Bus Stand in Chitrakoot, which is located near Pramod Van.
There are many tourist attractions in and around Chitrakoot Dham that are worth visiting. It is recommended to set aside at least three days to see all of the places of interest in the area.
Total Road Distance Between Lucknow to Chitrakoot is 225Kms and it takes around 6 hours by road.
It can be reached by personal vehicle via Raebareli, Manjhanpur & Rajapur.
Apart from this, there are two more routes from Lucknow to Chitrakoot, one is via Fatehpur & Baberu, Second is via Fatehpur & Khaga.

- Ljn R Garibrath Express (12535), the train runs from Lucknow at 14.10 and reaching chitrakoot at 19.10.
- Chitrakoot Exp (15205), the train runs from lucknow at 17.30 & reaching Chitrakoot at 23.30
